James Bond season ….21 movies throughout December on HBO

Not sure how many have past but ‘From Russia with love’ is on HBO. Bond movies although can have outdated technology ( to be expected as they were made 40 years ago) and often Bond can seem chauvinist and sexist. Still remain exciting and watcheable. Rarely is there a wasted moment. Granted in the earlier ones the pace isnt as urgent but that adds to the charm of the movies. Given cinema has a much more international feel,  and that big budgeted movies set in exotic locations are ten aplenty,  one cant help feel that Bond movies had the audience more gripped in the 60’s. Escapism from those black and white days when few had tv’s and going to the cinema was a real treat. The rustic feel of older Bond movies really cannot be replicated, and much as I love the more recent movies they dont have the same atmosphere.

  1. I completely lost interest in James Bond after Roger Moore quit. To me, he was the quintessential Bond, even better than Connery. I hope during this marathon on HBO in Taiwan they will showcase Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me. The 2 best Bond films by far!

    • They are showing them all! My brother loves Moore , he basically thinks hes the best bond of all. I view them all as different entities tbh. That way I can enjoy each one in its own way.

  2. nice blog, I’ve been catching a few of the bond movies on HBO, though I’ll probably skip the Pierce Brosnan ones.
