Capture the flag / CTF / MW3 / Tips on guns and Levels !

Loving cap the flag. It’s fast, fun and addictive. You can play it at your own pace in the background , camp it out or indeed run like a headless chicken after the flag. Last night I found a good signal and played games on village, bootleg and arkaaden. I ran up a killstreak of 24 ( although it was 29 when I counted ) and pulled in some decent close quarter killings with the pm990.

It is obvious to say but some weapons suit levels better. Indeed I tried running AR’s on Carbon and Arkaaden only to be ripped to bits by UMPS and MP5’s. For this reason I intend to try and make up a basic ( yes basic ) no science list of weapon and level combo’s to try and at least let me understand If I perform better or worse . The list can be ammended later. For example If I run an smg on bakaara and get raped maybe I’ll change it too an smg etc. I have found some levels I perform well on because I have realised which weapons work best . Other levels *cough* Resistance ( what a pain in the ass). I could the golden one shot kill and still not do well 😦 .It’s also worth mentioning I run Assassin and silencers with most classes as Im not skilled enough yet to stay alive. Maybe at some point I’ll  be able to streak without those. Indeed my best streaks in mw2 were unsilenced somehow :

Arkaden :  Definately SMG. Silenced in slower games, maybe unsilenced in frantic games. PP90m1 is current weapon of choice and Ive done ok with it recently.

Bakaara : Still not sure about this. Perhaps a silent AR. Assault rifle because there are long lines of sight. I have found myself doing better when I go down the outside of the side streets. Players tend to cross the middle area and you can pick them off. G36C red dot and silencer has worked well before.

Bootleg : Again tricky. It goes from close to medium. I’m still torn between smg and AR. I’ll go back to this one. If you do run an AR have a machine pistol handy.

Carbon : SMG . The pp90m1 is great on this level. You can infiltrate down the side of the levels and pick people off . Preferably silenced.

Dome : SMG again. Unsilenced or silenced. Grab a solid smg and move fast. In FFA patrol closed in areas like the Dome to pick off spawners or people hiding from choppers.

Downturn : I have had good luck with AR’s with red dot. As the action turns to CQ quickly however I often find myself using the FMG9 inside. Indeed this happens a lot when I use AR’s , my Skorpion or FMG9 is used almost as much.

Fallen : Hmm. AR. I have started to well on this level. But Assassin is a good perk here. Given it’s hard to see or be seen people rely on the radar alot. Stay off it. Pick people off from rooftops and behind walls. Dead silence is important here as footsteps are VERY obvious in the buildings. AR and red dot for those long distance killings.

Hardhat : Hmm. Not sure . Sort of torn. I recently did well with an smg on this. Yeh you guessed it the pp90m1. I really dont have a definitive answer.

Interchange : One level I do do well on. I run a silenced G36C with red dot. Pick people off . DONT walk in the middle . Always the outside. Listen for movement. Stay behind cars and travel carefully. Very open level so killstreaks can be useful. I went like 40-2 on this level a couple of days ago.

Lockdown : My least favourite level. You can use the windows but often the view is only of a small part of the level ( Which is good for avoiding snipers 😉 ) If your boring you could use the portable radar and camp it up in FFA ( please dont do that though heh) . Id say stay mobile and opt for a silenced AR is the way forward. But hey I’m awful at this level.

Mission : Tricky. It moves from CQ to open very quickly. Very frantic HQ level. I’d say you could opt for an AR and machine pistol secondary. in objective games people will tube the bottom area a lot use the trophy system in this case. I reccommend an accurate gun as snipers like this level.

Outpost : Given the game modes I play ( not TDM) I dont see this that much. I tend to run an AR but switch to a machine pistol for those CQ warehouses. It seems like snipers could have fun on this level as visibility is poor yet you can camp it up in the bunker or from on dark corners. Thermal could work.

Resistance : Tricky level. If you have the luxury patrol the top areas looking down on the boulevard. If you running and gunning I’d say a silenced SMG. The lines of sight are perfect for snipers and campers.

Seatown : Hard level to play. Good for frantic FFA’s and objective. SMG’s are good for those close alleys. Although I can see an assault rifle being good if your looking down from a house.

Underground : Silenced SMG. Watch those corners. Learning how the rooms link is very important on this level, especially for objective levels. I think IMG’s in tactical areas can be useful. Also some good claymore opportunities.

Village : Village is a level I struggled with at first. I think the trick is a lot of the action happens at distance yet because it’s open it’s easy for the opponent to see your red dot and pick you off. I reccommend a silenced AR , that way you get a gun that can drop people at distance and also stay off the radar. The ACR silenced is a good choice.
